Cornwall Holiday Cottages No. 1 – Great Weston Farmhouse, Crantock
We don’t mind blowing our own trumpet a bit when it comes to the interior décor of our twenty two lovely Cornwall holiday cottages. We’ve taken the time to create a real home from home, with smart contemporary interiors in every one. But we’ve also treated them sympathetically, keeping original features wherever possible and giving them pride of place. Here’s our first review – a real family favourite, historic, elegant Great Weston farmhouse in pretty Crantock village.
This gorgeous old sparkling white pebbledash and slate roofed farmhouse sleeps between two and eight people. There’s a cool, spotless downstairs bathroom with a claw foot bath and beautiful glass wall sculpture. The three sumptuous double bedrooms each have their own en suite shower. The beds are made up with luxurious Egyptian linen sheets. The furnishings are attractive and stylish. And the huge living room is divided from the dining area by huge, ancient beams painted white. It’s light, fresh, welcoming and a pleasure to live in. Our so our visitors tell us!
You can’t beat having your own private outdoor space, and we’re proud of the pretty garden at our featured Cornwall holiday cottage, Great Weston Farmhouse. It’s sunny. It’s enclosed by abundant hedging, full of birds in spring and early summer, and flowers. Especially lashings of pink and red Valerian, a real seaside special that attracts all sorts of insects. Look out for amazing hummingbird-like hawk moths and various iridescent beetles at dusk. There’s sturdy garden furniture to relax on and the lawn is manicured beautifully, perfect for sunbathing or midnight picnics in the balmy seaside air.
The kitchen is a cook’s dream, beautifully equipped with granite worktops and pale wood units, designed to make the practical side of self catering cottages go nice and smoothly. You can surf the net, chill in the living room with a book or TV, relax after a hard day’s surfing, walking, beach combing or sandcastle building. Winner of a Visit Britain 5 Star award in 2008, we think it represents the very best in Cornwall holidays. Cottages like this are hard to beat!
